Nature-based tourism
Jan 12th, 2008 by Juha Ylitalo
In recent years lot of travel agencies have started to organize various kind of hiking trips, nature-based tourism, etc. While its good that public becomes more aware of these things, it is hard if not impossible to do it without some kind of impact to the nature. Anne Törn has written PhD thesis about ‘Sustainability of nature-based tourism’. Book can be downloaded from University of Oulu in PDF format.
I haven’t yet had time to read it myself, but I am planning to do so sometime in spring, because most of my recent vacation trips could be described as nature-based tourism. This book might bring up issues that I should consider, when I am planning next year’s vacation destinations.

Juha,
Love the shot. It would make a great editorial shot for eco-tourism. Not only because its a great shot, but because of it’s versatility.
Best,
Rich
