Your lovely photos bring back happy memories of a holiday in Finland with my friend, Jussi. One day we took a trip from Helsinki to Porvo (I think it was called) and I was enchanted by all the little islands, some of them with holiday houses on them. We’d expected cold weather but it was as hot as Australia!!!!

Marketing material usually marks Kuusamo as part of Lapland, but officially Kuusamo is not part of Lapland.
I was quite amused, when I first time came across gate in Karhunkierros hiking trail, which indicated where Lapland ends and Kuusamo starts.
