Lofty
Jan 7th, 2008 by Juha Ylitalo
Moody Monday’s topic for this week was lofty. As usual, they had added nice description about meaning of the word:
1. extending high in the air; of imposing height; towering: lofty mountains.
2. exalted in rank, dignity, or character; eminent.
3. elevated in style, tone, or sentiment, as writings or speech.
4. arrogantly or condescendingly superior in manner; haughty: to treat someone in a lofty manner.
5. Nautical. noting a rig of a sailing ship having extraordinarily high masts.
6. (of fabric or yarn) thick and resilient.
7. having been hoisted by one’s own petard.
As some of my regular readers might have guessed, this kind of theme makes me dig deep into my pile of photographs from Italian Dolomites. At the end I came up with this image about Campanile Basso. It looks awesome from Sentiero Bocchette Centrali hiking trail, where we are in the picture, but its probable even more amazing for those, who dare to climb on it. Check my link from below, if you want to know more about it.
