Lonely Planet has following things to say about Ben Nevis:
Here are few facts to mull over before you go racing up the tourist track: the summit plateau is bounded by 700m-high cliffs and has a sub-Arctic climate; at the summit it can snow on any day of the year; the summit is wrapped in cloud nine days out of 10; in thick cloud, visibility at the summit can be 10m or less; in such conditions the only safe way off the mountain requires careful use of map and compass to avoid walking over those 700m cliffs.
With these words in our mind, we were more or less prepated for anything as we started our drive from Dornie to Fort Williams and Ben Nevis. To our pleasant suprise, it was sunny day all the way to the summit. While we were up there, small cloud started slowly to cover summit, but it wasn’t able to affect morale in our group as we started our way back to Fort Williams.
