Olhava in Repovesi National Park
Oct 29th, 2008 by Juha Ylitalo
This week’s letter in Mrs. Nesbitt’s ABC Wednesday is O. I decided that O is for Olhava, which is one of the most well known rock climbing spots in Southern Finland. Olhava is located into middle of Repovesi National Park. Rock faces are something like 50m high, nearest camping site is right next to climbing routes and since we are talking about national park, there is no fee from camping. When summer turns into winter, climbers will simply switch from rock climbing to ice climbing.
One could ask, how well can climbing and National Park co-exist, but Olhava has long traditions in climbing and Repovesi is relatively new national park and as such it would make no sense to prohibit climbing.

P.S. Some might remember my ‘R - Rock climber‘ post from previous round in ABC Wednesday. Photograph in that post was also taken in Olhava.

WOOOOW!!! You have the guts!

When you photograph climbers with 400mm lens like I did on this photograph (200mm prime lens with 2x extender), you can take this kind of photographs by standing with feet firmly rooted to the ground.
Wow. This is amazing! Truly amazing! Way to go! Great O! I love it!

I am trying one more time to post and say that this photo reminds me very much of one I took at Zion National Park in southern Utah, USA. Also taken with feet firmly planted and my farthest zoom lens.
When I post my website int he OpenID, your server tells me I am not a member of my own blog. I am trying without filling in that box. I really am katney from http://www.katneyskaboodle.blogspot.com whether they think so or not.
