Perumakoski in Karhunkierros

When you start hiking from Hautajärvi, first legal place to camp is Perumakoski in Oulanka National Park. This is also last stopping place before Rupakivi, which will be our first sightseeing location in Karhunkierros.
Perumakoski is not a fancy place, but they have all the basic facilities that you might expect from official camping place on a hiking trail: outhouse (toilet without flush and sewer), lean-to (laavu), reasonably flat ground for setting up tent, timber for campfire and you can easily fetch fresh water from river.
Name implies that river in view is part of rapids, but as you can see from the photograph it is probably class I rapid at best. On many places, it should be shallow enough that you can stand up in a river. However, I don’t know how far the rapid continues, so if you drop something, you might have to walk quite while before you find any still water.
