Salla

This week’s letter in Mrs. Nesbitt’s ABC Wednesday is S. I chose Salla ski resort in exotic Lapland as my choice for a week. You can’t see any snow in this photograph, because it has been taken in June, when skiing season is already gone. While Salla could be used as a base camp for hiking trips, this photograph was taken on annual Master Tung’s Lapland camp, where people from various countries (along history, it has had participants from Sweden, Denmark, France, Italy, USA and probably some other countries as well) training taiji.
If you happen to be heading to Salla in summer, let me know and I will write followup with my tips about best hiking trails, etc.
Technical details: Canon EOS 20D & Tokina AF 12-24mm f/4 AT-X Pro DX (12mm, 1/50s, f/8, ISO100)

Instead I send some stereo pics of Stockholm 1900.
I would have loved to see your photographs from Saariselkä, but at the same time I think you made smart choice, because those photographs from Stockholm looks as something that might have historical value.

Composition was largely result from making choices on how I wanted to show water and certain elements land in a photograph. For me, one of the challenges in wide-angle shots is that you can’t point wide angle lens downwards or upwards without making everything “fall” this or that way and at the sametime, I would prefer to limit sky to one third of the frame.
