125×125

125×125 pixels seems to be current de facto size for images in web advertising. During last couple months, I’ve been “forced” to make few of them myself about this site for Entrecard and Project Wonderful. Here are the tree 125×125 ads that I’ve used in Entrecard:
.
.
Based on number of ads in my Entrecard queue, something in my 2nd version failed to attract other bloggers, because I usually had only 2-3 ads in queue from where they would get picked into this blog. If/when I make my next ad for this site, I will probably create one with polar bear in it to make fun out of our position in Northern Europe (as far as I know, we only have brown bears in Finland, but …).
Entrecard
Entrecard is latest buzz among bloggers as a way to advertise their own blog in other blogs. Entrecard has nice introduction video about how it all works in their website, but the bottom line is that it has brought lot of new visitors for this blog and at the sametime, I’ve seen numerous other blogs. I’d like to use this opportunity to mention three of them.
This blog is well written blog about skiing (cross-country as well as downhill). While I have done cross-country skiing in my youth, it was just last spring, when I first time tried telemark. Hopefully this blog will push me to practise more downhill skiing.
In addition to being great blog about skiing, I later found out that its maintained by two Finns. This is nice since they were first Finns that I’ve found in Entrecard community. Nationality might have something to do with the fact that they put my name into their list of 10 interesting blogs. Thanks guys!
2. Photos from Northern Norway
As you might guess, Photos from Northern Norway is photo blog, which photos have been taken in northern parts of Norway. Thomas has taken lot of nice photographs and in addition to that I’ve been using his page as comparison point on how I might be able to monetize this site.
3. Saphrym
Saphrym is big fellow, who has decided to drop his weight in drastic way. His daily meals seem to have oatmeal, couple Slim Fast 220 Calorie Optima Bar and something small in addition to that, but thats about it. I would rather do more exercise and eat little bit more, but …
Regardless on what we think about this way of dropping weight, he is very active member in Entrecard community and as a result from this, his blog is currently ranked highest in Entrecards internal ad pricing and in most recommended blogs list it is in third position. With these facts in mind, I was happily suprised, when I found out that we got mentioned in his ‘The Daily Read’ colums’ on January 3, 2008.
Project Wonderful
Project Wonderful is relatively new advertisement network, which pricing model is based on cost per day (CPD) rather than cost per click. Best part of it all is that model is built so that advertiser can bid against each others on getting their advertisement to be shown publishers widgets.
We’ll see how well it will take off in here. If we can get daily average to raise above USD0.21/day by the end of January, it will stay in use for another couple months. If not, then it will be taken away and I will figure better use for that spot.
