Viapori

In Mrs. Nesbitt’s ABC Wednesday, we are now going on letter V. I came up with two options: Vuosaari and Viapori. Viapori is the old name for Suomenlinna. Name was changed from finnish Viapori (Sveaborg in swedish) to Suomenlinna in 1918, one year after Finland claimed to be an independent country instead of being a part of Soviet Union.
This photograph is from Piper’s cafe, which is located next to big lawns in Susisaari, where Finns and tourists come for picnic on warm sunny days.
