Finnish Championshop Competition on Pyrotechnics 2008

This week I decided to post my photo of a week before its normal schedule. Reason for this unusual event is that photographs from Finnish championship competition on pyrotechnics needs to be released before Monday at latest, if one wants to get any kind of media exposure for photographs.
This year was second time in the history of these competitions, when the event has been held in Töölönlahti. Before Töölönlahti, the rockets were launched from Suomenlinna and viewers were spread out to Helsinki shore line.
Last year, I was unable to attend competition so my only practise for this competition came from Chinese New Year fireworks. I took 12-24mm and 17-40mm lenses with me to competition, but if I could do it again, I would swap 12-24mm lens with 70-200mm lens. While I would definetely lose my chances on rockets that blow up high in the air, it would have given me possibility to take better closeups about buildings and rockets that blew up in low altitude. Another idea that was not yet put into test would involve using flash to light audience in front of me. If I would be able to fire flash in relatively low power, I could something about their shape to appear in photograph and that way give some kind of indication about how many people showed up to watch fireworks.
