Vappu celebrations

This week’s theme in photo theme for Thursday is “SCHOOL” (Students, Campus, School Building, Backpacks, School Supplies, Desks, Books,…). After careful thinking I decided to take photograph about high school graduates. As you might guess this photograph is not from graduation party … Photograph was taken on May 1, 2005. On some parts of the world May 1 is celebrated as ‘International Workers’ Day‘ and some places celebrates it as Walpurgis Night.
In Finland, high school graduates will pick up their white caps that they’ve used in high school graduation party and university students will wear their coveralls as they go to have a picnic in local parks. In Helsinki, Kaivopuisto is usually the most popular choice for picnic and as such the place is really crowded on Vappu.
