Taivalköngäs in Karhunkierros
Feb 5th, 2009 by Juha Ylitalo
Taivalköngäs is place that could be described as crossroads in Karhunkierros hiking trail, because you can head out to three different directions from here. One option is to head north to Hautajärvi and Lapland or if you decide to stay in Kuusamo, your options are to go west to Ristikallio or head south to Ruka.
Amazing Race and other similar kind of television competition would probably set it up as place for pit stop, if they would ditch airplanes and head out into woods, because Taivalköngäs has three suspension bridges, wilderness cabin, one of the most common sceneries from Karhunkierros hiking trail (the one on top of this article) and some whitewater, which could be interesting topic for photography, if you are not in rush to hike remaining 4km to Savilampi and Oulanka canyon.
