Kilimanjaro
Nov 2nd, 2004 by Juha Ylitalo
In November 2004 I made vacation trip to Tanzania. My aim was to climb to top of Kilimanjaro, but I had not anticipated all the obstacles that I would face on this journey. For starters zoom mechanism in my camera (Canon PowerShot G3) got stuck in middle of our game drive in Arusha National Park. Day later, I lost all the faith on finding with qualified personel and fixed it by using little bit brute force. After that it started to work, but it remains to be seen how long it survives. My adjusting to high altitude didn’t work as well as it had worked, when I hiked IncaTrail in Peru, so I started taking aspirin as soon as we went through the Machame Gate. On our hiking trip, early morning were always pretty, but as clouds started to climb up during the day, they also brought rain that lasted all the way to night, when we went to sleep.
