Winter
Feb 21st, 2008 by Juha Ylitalo
This week’s topic in Photo Theme for Thursday was “WINTER” (Cold, Frost, Ice, Icicles, Snow, Shovels, Storms, Anything that is Cold,…). Since this winter has been very warm in southern Finland, I had to dig little bit further into archives to come up with something usable. This photograph was taken in March 2006 in Levi. We were doing day trip in Kätkätunturi with snowshoes. Appearantly quite many people have had similar kind of ideas and occasionally we just followed the path that others had prepared for us.
Technical details: Canon EOS 20D & Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM (34mm, 1/250s, f/11, ISO200)

Beautiful picture, if we get a half inch of snow here in the UK the whole country grinds to a halt.

Have you noticed a change in climate over the past few years? I was wondering. I do not know anyone in Finland, but it seems like global warming would be making itself known there.
You are a wonderful photographer.

CyberCelt: When I was a kid (20-30 years ago), we used to have whole lot more snow in southern Finland. Right now we are getting new snow from the sky, but I can still see dry grass on front yard and based on weather forecast all the snow will once again melt during next week.
Also if you look my pictures from last week about office buildings in Keilaniemi (Espoo), you will see open waters, where we normally should have thick ice …
